Nigeria able to produce 70 percent of its milk, meat needs

NIGERIA - Nigeria has the capacity to produce 70 percent of its milk and meat needs, the official News Agency of Nigeria reported on Sunday.

With adequate feeds and other food mixtures, there would be high yield in milk, meat, fish and poultry products, Murtala Nyako, National President of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), was quoted as saying.

"There are great potential in livestock, poultry and fish farming if properly harnessed," he said.
Nyako maintained that while livestock farmers in Europe had up to 305 milking days and 60 days inoculating the livestock for bio- security.
