UAE Bans Egyptian Dairy Products

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - Tarek Tawfik, chairman of Egypt's Chamber of Food Industries has said that the UAE has banned imports of Egyptian milk and cheese after prohibiting imports of meat and meat products earlier in March this year, citing foot-and-mouth disease found in Egyptian cattle, Reuters has reported.

Tawfik said he hopes the ban is a misinterpretation of the previous decision that will be resolved after talks between ministers of trade and agriculture in both countries. 'We don't have an epidemic of foot-and-mouth in the country, we just have a few cases and it has existed for a long time,' Tawfik said.
