Daily Livestock Summary
AUSTRALIA - Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) reports its daily livestock summary.
Supply was reduced at Dalby and most grades sold to a dearer trend with buyers competing strongly. Light yearling steers to feed and restock ranged form 205¢ to 225¢, as the medium weights to feed gained eight cents - to 193¢/kg.
Yearling heifers to feeders mostly ranged from 168¢ to 196¢/kg. The good line up of grown steers were firm on 171¢, after prices reached 175¢/kg.
Numbers edged higher at Casino as light vealer steers to restockers reached 265¢ and averaged 225¢, while the medium weights to the trade were on 222¢/kg. Vealer heifers to slaughter were firm on 223¢, while the few leaner types to restockers made 210¢/kg.
Medium weight cows topped at 150¢, and most pens settled on 142¢/kg.
Throughput was lower at Warrnambool as fewer grown cattle were penned. The best of the heavy B muscle vealer steers topped at 226¢, while the vealer heifers to the trade averaged 220¢/kg. Heavy C4 bullocks were eight cents dearer on 185¢, while the few grown heifers made 162¢/kg.
After Wednesday's markets the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) was 9.75¢ above last week on 380.25¢/kg cwt. The trade steer indicator was two cents lower on 214¢ and feeder steers finished seven cents higher on 201¢/kg lwt.
Heavy steer prices gained two cents - to 179¢ and medium cows finished firm on 137¢/kg lwt.
