MLA report that supply at Dalby fell by 20 per cent despite a general lift in values the previous week.

Values continued to climb for a number of classes with calves and vealers improving by five cents to 10¢/kg. Yearling steers to feed also experienced a dearer trend.

Heavy steers and bullocks to export slaughter lifted in value by two to five cents/kg. Cows were dearer with plain conditioned lines making the largest gains.

The number of cattle yarded at Casino was down again, with young cattle dominating the yarding.

According to MLA, the best of the light veal was 13¢ dearer - averaging 235¢/kg.

The limited supply of supplementary fed yearlings sold to a dearer trend. The smaller yarding of export cattle was mainly made up of a fairly mixed penning of cows that sold firm to slightly dearer.

There was a slight reduction in cattle penned at Warrnambool, with young cattle numbers back. Young vealers made 180¢ to 220¢/kg to be firm to cheaper. Cow prices gained ground for dairy and beef breeds.

After Wednesday's markets the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) finished 10.25¢ above last week, on 384.25¢/kg cwt. The trade steer indicator was one cent higher on 211¢ and feeder steers finished two cents up on 202¢/kg lwt.

Heavy steer prices were firm at 181¢ and medium cows finished one cent higher on 141¢/kg lwt.
