West Cork Milk Price Increase Welcome
IRELAND - A decision by some of West Cork's co-ops to raise their July milk price has been welcomed by the Irish Farmers' Association National Dairy Committee Chairman, Kevin Kiersey. The decision to increase the July milk price by up to 0.94c/l + VAT was supported.
Mr Kiersey said that somewhat weaker markets in recent weeks, as evidenced in particular by the recent Fonterra auctions, were widely believed to result from the lower buyers’ activity during the holiday period, and that this was not necessarily a long term trend.
“I strongly believe that the worst case scenario to year end at the very least is for stable milk prices,” Kevin Kiersey said.
