OIE: Anthrax Outbreak Reported
KAZAKHSTAN - A new case of Anthrax has been reported to OIE by Dr Nigmat Khamitovich Zhakupbaev, Ministry of Agriculture, Astana, Kazakhstan.

An outbreak of Anthrax has occured at Komsomol, Dzhanybekskiy, URAL'SK, on the 30 July 2011, and has been reported to OIE on 22 August.
The outbreak pertains to the whole country.
In total there have been three cases reported in cattle in the area and these have resulted in three deaths.
As a soil borne infection, control measures currently being applied are:
- Quarantine
- Movement control inside the country
- Vaccination in response to the outbreak(s)
Control measure to be applied is the disinfection of the infected premises.
