For veterinarians, the cooperation also means the opportunity to make contacts with potential workers and practitioners.
To assist veterinarians and farmers in their daily work, Pfizer Animal Health is launching the "herd scan Initiative 2011" in mid-August.
As part of the initiative presented to veterinarians, the programme has been developed specifically to target their needs, capturing herd health through targeted analysis.
Through more transparency, companies can work together with veterinarians and farmers, using effective measures to improve the general health of animals and increase the productivity of their dairy herds.
Pfizer will work closely with students and veterinarians.
In this context, aspiring veterinarians receive extensive training in which they are prepared by experienced practitioners and cattle industry experts for their tasks ahead.
This gives the students important insights into animal health management and related issues. The programme also puts students and companies in contact, helping form relationships for the future.
"Pfizer Animal Health is the promotion of veterinary offspring of particular concern," says Dr Peter Zieger, National Veterinary Specialist at Pfizer Animal Health.
"Through their active participation, students gain a unique opportunity to experience farming first hand and to make valuable contacts for their professional career after graduation."
