One New FMD Outbreak in China

CHINA - A new outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), affecting cattle and sheep/goats, has been reported to the OIE by the Chinese veterinary authorities.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 23 today, 18 October. The report states that the outbreak took place in Ningxia.

According to the report, a total of 389 cattle showed signs of susceptibility to the outbreak, out of which 26 cases were identified.

While no deaths were recorded, all susceptible animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
