Spain Reiterates Calls for Brussels to Maintain Milk Quotas
SPAIN - Agriculture Minister Arias Cañete reiterated the importance of European Milk Quota maintenance to the European Council of Agriculture, which are scheduled to terminate in 2015.
The Minister reassured that the Spanish Government will continue to insist that quotas on sugar and milk are maintained despite the lack of effect quotas have in other member states and the quota phasing out scheme being on track abroad.
The European Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Ciolos, will be are to be exhibited to the ministers the second report of the EU executive on the evolution of the market situation for milk and the conditions for a smooth transition to the abolition of the quota system.
It is expected that Dacian Ciolos, Agriculture European Commissioner, will release a second European Commission report on the conditions of the milk market which will argue a case for the gradual elimination of the quota system. The report will be shown to the agriculture ministers from the 27 European Union countries.
