More Cattle in Tibet Affected by FMD Outbreak

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary experts have reported a further outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Tibet in which more cattle have been affected.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 4 on 30 May 2013, stating that out of 70 susceptible animals, eight cases were reported. While no deaths were recorded, all 70 animals were destroyed.

The OIE is still not able to determine the cause of the outbreaks.

Several control measures have been applied in an effort to prevent further spread of the disease.
