Nicaragua Waits on BSE Decision
NICARAGUA – Government animal health officials have asked for the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) to renew the country’s bovine spongiform encephalopathy status.A dossier containing eight years of disease data has been admitted for approval as part of an Agricultural Ministry push to relax restrictions and boost trade to Europe.
Details of how the disease has been limited are included, which are back up by technical reports, epidemiology studies and traceability reports.
Dr Gordon Augusto, government livestock adviser said the report will be reviewed by the OIE over the coming months and expects a definitive response by May.
