Disease Updates For Foot and Mouth for Panama and Peru
PARAGUAY – Paraguayan officials have announced the revision of the country’s Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) status to ‘free with vaccination’.After almost two years, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has reversed the original decision to suspend the FMD free with vaccination, enforced after an outbreak in San Pedro.
Correspondence across all report members and a recommendation from an ad hoc group at the Scientific Commission for Animal Disease motioned the status be changed last month.
In Peru, National Agricultural Health Service officers are advising farmers in the Ancash region following the extension of the FMD free zone 'without vaccination', which has stood since 2007.
