Television chef Robert Kranenborg has launched a campaign to boost the profile of popular Dutch cheese Gouda ahead of a documentary discussing its new European Union food status.

Protected Geographical Indication has been granted to a range of food and drink and in the television series ‘Secrets of Gouda’ Mr Kranenborg discusses what this means for the product.

Prior to the provision, Mr Kranenborg said that Gouda was able to be produced anywhere in the world.

He added: “To avoid any copy of our culinary heritage, the European Union has ensured the quality of the product so that Dutch Gouda comes from Dutch milk, from Dutch cows and aged in the Netherlands.”
