Russia Lifts Scrutiny on Latvian and Ukrainian Plants

RUSSIA – Russian food safety authority Rosselkhoznadzor has tightened scrutiny of dairy products arriving from a Latvian and a Ukrainian dairy on food quality grounds.

Laboratory testing has detected Tetracycline antibiotics in Ukrainian cheese and bacteria in a Latvian milk powder batch.

Temporary restrictions have been placed on the responsible Ukrainian plant, the Khmelnitsky creamery, and laboratory controls have been heightened on products from the Latvian processor.
