Every year, the Austrian land chamber notes a rise in mastitis risk through summer months.

This is on farms with or without mastitis problems.

The cost of a mastitis case can be as high as €600 per cow, according to land chamber experts.

Installing fans can improve cow behaviour and has obvious heat stress abatement benefits, experts added.
