Contagious Disease Behind Senegalese Cattle Deaths
SENEGAL – A contagious bovine pleuropneumonia outbreak has killed seven cattle in a herd in the south of the country.Senegal’s national laboratory tested fallen livestock on September 10, confirming 13 cases on a farm in Kolda.
Government veterinary director Dr Mbargou Lo said Mycoplasma mycoides had caused the condition on the 177 head cattle herd.
The World Organisation for Animal Health could not state the origin of the infection.
