A huge number of sacrificial animals have been brought to the city’s markets for sale. The farmers and traders claimed that the Dhaka dwellers always buy cattle just a day or two before the Eid.

Although buying and selling of the sacrificial animals were not good in the past few days, the city dwellers have started to throng the makeshift cattle markets across the city from last morning, especially after the Jumma prayers.

While paying visits to the cattle markets in the city’s Shahjahanpur and Kamalapur areas, it was found that the supply of local cows, and goats were aplenty.

Talking to some of the buyers and sellers of sacrificial animals, it was learnt that small and medium-sized cows are among the choice list of the religious Muslims, as they are preferring bulls ranging from Tk60,000 to Tk80,000.

According to the Local Government Division sources, some 24 cattle markets have been set up in the capital in different areas from Wednesday, while buying and selling of animals would continue in those markets till before the Eid day.
