Brazilian meatpacker Minerva SA suspends production at four facilities in response to coronavirus outbreak

Minerva SA will place workers on paid leave at four processing plants in Brazil.

According to a statement sent to Reuters on 17 March, Minerva SA will place workers on paid leave as the company adjusts production capacity to address the fluctuating market. The statement attributed the changes to the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

The workers will be placed on leave starting Monday 23 March. Minerva also said that operations will be halted for 10 to 15 days depending on the plant. Two of the units impacted by the measures are in Mato Grosso and Sao Paulo.
