Because of accumulated problems such as the price of forage which was higher than the price of milk, a fact concerning the consumers as well since it was making the dairy products more expensive.

According to milk producers the milk quota was with 50% lower than the produced milk quantity and this necessitated the butchering of 250 000 animals.

According to Minister Nihat Kabil however the demands of the milk producers were unreasonably high.
