Nigeria Reports One New Outbreak of FMD

NIGERIA - The country has reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease at Chanchaga in Niger State.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 2 on Wednesday, 25 August.

According to the report, the outbreak has affected cattle. A total of 30 cases were identified, while 504 animals were found susceptible to the disease. 15 of the affected animals were slaughtered.

The OIE reports that the cause of the outbreak is most likely contact with infected animals while grazing or watering.
