OIE: New Outbreaks Of Anthrax In Italy

ITALY - There have been six further outbreaks of anthrax, reported in the regions of Basilicata and Campania.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 3 dated 6 October to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes a further seven outbreaks of anthrax on farms in the region of Basilicata and Campania in southern Italy, starting between 14 and 26 September.

Cattle were affected at most of the farms, along with sheep, goats and horses. All seven of the cattle inffected died.

The source of infection has still not been identified.
