OIE: FMD Outbreak Reported In Israel

ISRAEL - An outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) has been reported to the OIE by Dr Nadav Galon, Director, Veterinary Services and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, BET DAGAN, Israel.

There has been one outbreak of FMD reported to the OIE.

The outbreaked occured at TARSHIHA, Acco, HAZAFON.

The outbreak effects a defined zone within the country.

So far, the outbreak has resulted in 15 cases, with two deaths.

The source of the outbreak is due to the introduction of new live animals.

Control measures currently being applied include:

    Quarantine
  • Zoning
  • Movement control inside the country
  • vacination in response to the outbreak
  • No treatment of affected animals
