Danone Builds Educational Dairy Farm

UKRAINE - Danone Ukraine, a subsidiary of the Danone Group based in France, intends to build a cooperative dairy farm for educational purposes in Pokrovskyi district, Dnipropetrovsk region, before 2013.

UkrainianNews reports that the project will be financed from the Danone Ecosystem fund with participation of the Heifer Foundation (United States) and the Canadian International Development Agency.

The first phase of the dairy farm will be commissioned in May 2012 and the second phase will be commissioned before November 2012.

According to Dario Marchetti, Danone Ukraine's Director General, purchasing of silage packing machines, harvesters, five tractors, and mowing machines is underway. 120 cows will be purchased for the hangar farm.

The cost of the project is estimated at EUR 1.5 million.

According to the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, the dairy farm will be used for training small-sized farm producers of the region.

As Ukrainian News reported, the Danone Ukraine company is planning to invest EUR 30 million in production before the end of 2013.

Danone Ukraine also plans to invest EUR one million before 2012 in supporting and development of small-sized farm producers in Ukraine to develop the raw-material base of Danone Dnipro.
