Russian Dairy Farms Violate Milk Safety Regulations
RUSSIA - During the first half of 2012, the Russian Food Safety and Veterinary Authority, Rosselkhoznadzor conducted 70 dairy farm inspections which revealed numerous violations of the milk safety regulations.Of the few inspections that did take place, Rosselkhoznadzor said that they did not conform with official standards.
As part of the state monitoring, 170 milk samples were tested, with discrepancies in quality and safety found in over 13 per cent of them.
As well as this the products did not meet the requirements for microbiological and radiological parameters, as well as antibiotic residues.
As a result of the inspections, Rosselkhoznadzor has suspended the activities of six livestock farms in the Bryansk and Smolensk regions for periods of time ranging between 15 to 60 days.
Rosselkhoznadzor is reminding producers to follow the milk and dairy product safety regulations.
