The economic impact on processsors, distributors and manufacturers has been described as "incalculable" although farmers have a clear picture of the strike and the losses caused.

Mr Ruis commented on the huge milk losses the industry has withstood, stating the efficacy of the strike due to its impact on trade: "The fleet of 1,200 delivery trucks was paralysed. Galician milk did not reach foreign shelves meaning income losses for the dairy supply chain."

"The market situation is unsustainable for producers who have greater costs than income and very complicated for the 15 industries Galician also serious difficulties we are facing."

Much bigger impacts would be felt long term by the industry if nothing was done to improve milk prices for farmers, Pedro Ruis argued, defending the farmers' actions.
