The campaign will be jointly carried out by Ministry of Agriculture(MOA) and eight other government organs, including the Ministry of Public Security(MPS), the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC),the Supreme People's Court, etc.

The crackdown on counterfeit agricultural inputs is aimed at safeguarding farmers' rights and securing grain production, Minister Han said.

At the conference, Minister Han stressed that this year is vital to resolutely intensify crackdown on counterfeit agricultural inputs and strictly punish violations for securing another bumper harvest and farmer's income growth in 2013.

In his speech, Minister Han required agricultural departments at different levels to raise awareness, regulate the marketand safeguard farmers' interests. To this end, he pledged that MOA shall take following actions during the crackdown:

1. Focus on seven categories of products, including seeds(seedling), pesticides, fertilizers, animal drugs, feeds and feed additives, aquatic fingerling as well as agricultural machinery and tools.
2. Highlight the key links in pesticide manufacturing, marketing and distribution.
3. Intensify supervision and crackdown at critical farming seasons.
4. Conduct timely investigation and penalties on severe violations.
5. Enhance long-lasting mechanisms to ensure reliable agricultural inputs.

Minister Han also called for concerted efforts among relevant authorities to strengthen the supervision, crackdown and investigation of counterfeit agricultural inputs.

High-ranking officials from relevant government organs positively echoed Minister Han's call and suggestions.

A similar campaign launched in 2012 resulted in the confiscation of 33,000 tons of counterfeit agricultural inputs.

Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua chaired the meeting. A total of 819 sub-venues were set at all provinces (autonomous regions or municipalities) and some cities (counties).
