OIE: More Bluetongue Outbreaks in the West Bank

Two settlements, Atil and Danaba have been hit with the virus, resulting in stringent movement and screening restrictions being imposed.
In all, 26 cases have been identified in sheep and goat populations, according to reports from Dr Khawla Salem Njoum, General Directorate of Veterinary Services in Ramallah.
Pirbright laboratory investigations concluded that Bluetongue was present after gene sequencing tests were carried out last March.
Over 350 sheep and goats are ‘susceptible’ to the outbreak with the morbidity rate on sheep farms currently standing at 20 per cent.
