Cycle For Disease Vaccinations Over Half Way Stage

VENEZUELA – The latest vaccination cycle, inoculating cattle for tick illnesses, rabies, brucellosis and foot and mouth disease is more than half complete, the ministry of agriculture has announced.

Of a total 63,720 holdings to vaccinate, 36,552 have been completed. The current figures of cattle that have been dosed are 1.9 million – over 55 per cent of the 3.5 million national targets.

In total the Ministry of Power, Agriculture and Land, with the National Agricultural Health Agency (NAHA) wish to vaccinate 25 per cent of total Venezuelan cattle, at a projected cost of 81.7 million bolivars.

Jose Molina, spokesman for the NAHA said was grateful for the Bolivian government and help they offered in training farmers about herd health and the consequence of major disease.

Such cooperation had not been seen in other governments, he added.

The vaccination cycle is forecast to end on the 15 June.
