FMD Outbreaks in Russia Affect Cattle, Pigs
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two outbreaks of foot and mouth disease at the village of Spassky, located in Primorskiy Kray, affecting cattle and swine herds.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 3 on Sunday, 9 June, wherein it was reported that both outbreaks occurred on 28 May.
According to the report, a total of ten cattle were found susceptible. However, no cases have been reported. None of the animals were slaughtered and/or destroyed.
In the case of pigs, a total of 50 animals were found susceptible, out of which 30 cases were reported. No deaths were recorded and none of the affected animals were slaughtered and/or destroyed.
The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
Several control measures have been put in place in order to contain the situation.
