The centre’s purpose is to improve farm breeding, health and safety.

Long term aims are to protect rare breeds and improve the genetics of a herd responsible for 40 per cent of national goat milk production.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Elena Viboras told a delegation of industry officials that the state produces 183,000 tons of goat milk and over 25 per cent of goat meat.

The ministry stated that goat milk prices have been lifting in recent years, making dairy goats one of the most profitable livestock enterprises.
