Latest mad cow may torpedo U.S. border-closure case
CALGARY - The possible discovery of a BSE-infected cow south of the border could mean the end of the legal case keeping Canadian livestock out of the U.S., say local beef industry officials. Montana-based ranching group R-CALF USA's argument that keeping the border closed to Canadian livestock is a safety issue would be rendered moot if the case of mad cow disease is confirmed and found to originate in the U.S., said Ron Axelson, general manager of the Alberta Cattle Feeders Association.Source: edmontonsun.com
