Foot trimming featuring the Dutch Five Step method using both a knife and grinder will be managed by Embryonics’ vet, John Dawson, Pieter Kloosterman who has over 35 years of experience as a professional foot trimmer, and Category 1 foot trimmer, Craig Lawrence. The popular demonstrations which will be repeated four times each day, will be supported with independent commentary and additional information on locomotion.

In addition, the event will be staging Healthy Feet, a practical workshop, supported by AHDB, designed to help farmers understand more clearly what causes lameness, its impact and how to reduce incidences. Each session will focus on how to recognise lameness in the early stages, followed by prompt and effective treatment.

Livestock Event director, Matt Knight comments: “We are aware that lameness impacts on at least 50 per cent of the herd during any one year and incurs horrendous accompanying costs, consequently maintaining feet in tip top condition will once again be coming under the microscope with two major features.”
