Algerian Milk Import Bill Down by More Than 18% in 2016

31 January 2017

ALGERIA - The milk imports bill (including raw materials) dropped to US$849.2 million in 2016, against USD1 billion in 2015, an 18.66 per cent drop, the Customs told APS.

The imported quantities of this product (milk powder, milk creams and dairy fats used as inputs) have also decreased to 358,943 tons against 372,126 tons, a decline of nearly 3.54 per cent, said the National Centre of Data Processing and Statistics of the Customs (CNIS).

This decrease in the import bill is driven by not only the decline in imported quantities but also the drop in milk import prices by Algeria.
