'Best and Brightest' Sought to Drive Agricultural Policy
AUSTRALIA - AgForce is seeking innovative, bright thinkers to help drive key policies to take agriculture and rural Queensland forward.AgForce General President Grant Maudsley said nominations for AgForce policy committees were now open for members who wanted to contribute to the policy development process and represent the wider views of broadacre agriculture.
“Delivering high quality food and fibre for domestic and overseas consumers is not an easy job, with Queensland primary producers facing constant challenges from government decisions, the natural environment and fluctuating markets,” he said.
“Industry groups like AgForce are at the forefront of grappling with these policy problems and coming up with solutions that deliver better outcomes for all rural Queenslanders.
“For example, the AgForce Drought Committee has recently developed a new approach to drought policy that would deliver better outcomes for both governments and producers, while AgForce’s Vegetation Management Committee worked tirelessly to retain fair laws for farmers.
“We’re now seeking nominations from the best and brightest to be part of AgForce’s policy committees over the next two years and help us secure the continued productivity, profitability and sustainability of Queensland agriculture.”
AgForce policy committees will cover areas such as:
- Finance, agribusiness, climate and drought;
- Transport;
- Telecommunications;
- Water planning and regulation;
- Weeds;
- Vegetation management; and
- Resource sector interactions.
Nominations close on Wednesday, 8 March, with the make-up of the committees to be finalized by mid-March. Nomination forms for members and more details are available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CT9W7GF
