2 October - 'Cows and Opportunities'
Dutch project 'Cows and opportunities' took 16 dairy farmers and industry professionals and looked for practical solutions to meet environmental and societal challenges.
There will be an exploration of how the project succeeded and how the industry has benefited. The project delivers tools and practical techniques to improve nutrient efficiency at farm level which is of benefit for all dairy farmers.
3 October - Data collection from mixing wagons
Thomas Anderson, Senior Specialist at SEGES, will discuss the new Danish tool used to transfer data between the Danish herd Management System (DMS) and mixer wagons.
The tool is used on 190 Danish dairy farms, including EuroDairy pilot farmers. During this webinar, there will be a discussion on farmers' experiences of using the tool.
17 October - Responsible antimicrobial use on UK dairy farms- the Farmer Action Group project
How has a farmer-led approach helped to reduce antimicrobial use on UK farms? Graham Wells, a participating farmer gives his insights into being part of the Farmer Action Group project, and cross-border learning on a EuroDairy trip to the Netherlands.
Mr Wells is part of a family team managing and running a 280 strong H-F herd in Somerset, averaging over 8000L/cow/year in an all year round calving pattern.
18 October - The Swedish take on responsible antibiotic use
Ylva Persson will discuss how Sweden has the lowest use of antibiotics in EU, and how other countries can lower their use of antibiotics to reach the same level.
23 October - The role of forages as protein sources in dairy systems
What role do forages play as a protein source in dairy systems? Elisabet Nadeau, associate Professor at SLU, Sweden, will cover effects of forage species, the rate of nitrogen fertiliser, wilting, conservation and the use of additives on forage protein and the effects on dairy cow performance.
