Finnish Dairy Giant Confirms Cut of White-collar Jobs

FINLAND - Finnish dairy giant Valio announced on Wednesday that employee and employer representatives have completed co-determination talks and that 80 workers will be let go.

In addition to redundancies, Valio said it would reduce staff by terminating fixed-term contracts and through retirement programmes.

When negotiations began in January, the company said it was considering cutting up to 100 jobs.

The farmer-owned firm said downsizing was needed to improve competitiveness and profitability.
