Commissioner Hansen opens Info Days on funding for EU agri-food promotion
The event took place in Brussels on January 29th and 30thThe European Union's Commissioner for Agriculture, Christophe Hansen participated in the annual Info Days on funding opportunities for EU agri-food promotion, according to a Commission press release.
The event, which takes place on 29-30 January in Brussels and online, accompanies the publication on 22 January of the 2025 calls for proposals for grants for information provision and promotion measures concerning agricultural products.
Commissioner Hansen will take the opportunity to exchange with stakeholders, including national and EU-level agri-food trade organisations, producer organisations, associations of producer organisations and agri-food sector bodies. Over 500 participants have registered to attend.
Jointly organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development and the European Research Executive Agency, the event aims to support potential applicants in designing impactful promotion campaigns. The first day will be dedicated to policy aspects. Speakers from the European Commission will discuss the priorities of the 2025 Annual Work Programme, as well as opportunities and challenges for promotion programmes. The second day will focus on the development of successful campaigns with expert evaluators and current programme beneficiaries.
The adoption of the 2025 work programme also marks 10 years of EU promotion policy, with over 600 campaigns co-funded, bearing the common signature “Enjoy, It’s from Europe”.
Promotion campaigns about EU farm products are designed to open up new market opportunities for EU farmers and the wider food industry, as well as helping them build their existing business.
The promotion policy can play a central role in incentivising the transition to a greener, more sustainable agricultural sector, by highlighting the economic, environmental and social sustainability aspects of EU products and production processes both in the EU and non-EU countries. Internationally, it can support efforts to position the EU food system as a global reference for sustainability and quality.
In 2025, the Commission has allocated €132 million to fund promotion activities for sustainable and high-quality EU agri-food products in the EU and worldwide.
