EU-Canada trade deal will be formally approved, says Macron
The agreement is already provisionally in forceFrench President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday said he was convinced that the CETA free-trade agreement between the European Union and Canada would eventually be formally ratified by all members, reported Reuters.
In March, a large majority of French senators voted against ratification after protests by farmers. The trade deal, sealed in 2014, was ratified in 2017 by the European Parliament and is already provisionally in force.
