Forage Focus: Using Low Quality Hay
Producing high quality hay depends upon cutting the forage plant at a vegetative stage and then getting enough dry sunny days to allow the plants to dry, ideally, to 15 to 18 percent moisture content before baling, writes Extension Educator Rory Lewandowski, for the Ohio State University Beef Team Newsletter, issue #601.

US Feed Outlook
A fall in US feed grain production this month largely caused by dry weather has only partially been offset by increases in foreign production, according to the US Feed Outlook by the Economic Research Service of the USDA.
World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates
US red meat production is expected to continue to be strong in 2008 and together with broiler meat production is expected to rise next year according to the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates from the USDA.

European corn production has dropped this year compared to last, but China is set for a record harvest according to the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service World Agricultural Production Report. At the same time Australia's harvest has been hit by drought, while Ukraine and Russia see harvest yields soar.
Pfizer Animal Health Adds Former Schering-Plough Products to European Portfolio
FRANCE - Pfizer Animal Health has announced that its acquisition of multiple product franchises in Europe from the Schering-Plough Corporation has been completed and approved by the European Commission. Pfizer has acquired these assets for approximately €116 million in cash.
Genus Profits in Times of Trouble
UK - Cattle genetics company Genus Plc reported a forty percent rise in profits this year, despite continuing struggle within much of the industry.
